The Department of Environment and Conservation have recently released a Noise Guide for Local Government to assist in the assessment of noise. Click here to download a copy
WIKS has all the equipment you need to ensure that noise measurements are carried out in accordance with the "Noise Guide for Local Government" . Section 2.2 Advises that "Any noise measurements taken in relation to an assessment may be used as evidence in court. They may also be challenged on various technical grounds" The Noise Guide also defines the equipment requirements for measurement and the processes to be followed when assessing noise. The equipment required is either a type I or Type II sound level meter. The unit should be supplied with either a calibration certificate or a manufacturers conformance certificate. (WIKS Supplies a manufacturers conformance certificate, a NATA Calibration certificate can be supplied on request for an additional fee). A sound level calibrator is also required to conduct field calibration both prior and at the conclusion of taking measurements to ensure the sound level meter is reading accurately You may also require an anemeometer to ensure that the wind speed does not impact on the measurements being taken.
